At SurreyFE, we welcome and reflect this direction. As the partnership of Activate Learning, Brooklands Technical College, East Surrey College and NESCOT, we’re already delivering many of the reforms it calls for.
Skills & growth alignment: SurreyFE leaders sit on key Surrey County Council forums -including the Surrey Skills Leadership Forum (Lindsay Pamphilon), One Surrey Growth Board (Gary Headland), and Surrey Forum (Julie Kapsalis) – ensuring FE provision meets local economic priorities. We welcome the upcoming 16-19 funding formula review and hope it brings real investment to drive real outcomes for learners and local employers.
Youth Guarantee, Auto-enrolment & Inclusion: Through the Post-16 Phase Council (chaired by Christine Ricketts), we’re tackling the NEET challenge head-on with secondary schools, the School Forum, SAfE and Surrey County Council partners with a countywide “No One Left Behind” approach. We welcome new ways of working to ensure every young person has access to education, training, or employment including through SEND provision and inclusive pathways across SurreyFE.
Technical excellence: As consultation opens on V Levels, SurreyFE welcomes change that enables us to transform curriculum further, strengthening pathways to employment and is aligned with employer and regional needs. Excellence is already showcased through our county-wide skills competitions and employer-led curriculum design.
High standards & leadership: Our new governance collaboration is raising the bar for FE leadership across Surrey. Through shared accountability, training, and the Joint Governors Summit and Conferences, we’re building diverse, skilled boards that drive real impact.
Together, we’re shaping a future-ready FE system that delivers for every learner, employer, and community in Surrey.
